Integrating with IBM WebSphere v.7

When hosted in WebSphere, WebORB plugs in as a J2EE web application. Follow the steps below to install WebORB into WebSphere 7.x:

  1. Launch WebSphere server and start the Administrative Console from the First Steps application.

     
     
  2. In the administrative console, select Applications -> New Application from the options available in the left panel to initiate the application installation process. Select "New Enterprise Application" in the panel on the right:


     
  3. In the right panel, click Browse and select weborb.war located in the WebORB installation directory. Click Next to proceed to the next step.


     
  4. Select the "Fast Path" option. Expand the "Choose to generate default bindings and mappings" section and select the "Generate Default Bindings" checkbox as shown below. Click Next to continue.

     
  5. The next screen presents installation options. No changes are necessary, click Next to continue.


     
  6. Select weborb.war module and click Next to continue:


     
  7. Type the context path for the weborb.war module as shown below and click Next. The context path is used to access the application.


     
  8. This screen displays the summary of the deployment. Verify the information and click Finish to complete application installation.
     
  9. Once application is installed, click Save directly to Master Configuration. This is required so that the application can be started.

  11. Expand the Application Types group in the Applications section from the left panel. Click WebSphere enterprise applications. A list of all deployed applications is displayed. Select weborb_war and click Start.


     
  12. Once the WebORB application is started, a green arrow is displayed in the status column.



    WebORB services are now available and can be accessed at (the weborb context path is configured in step 7):
