Payments

Connect AI agents to Paddle, the merchant-of-record billing platform for SaaS and digital products. Agents manage products and prices, look up customers and their subscriptions, run the pause, resume, and cancel lifecycle, create transactions and fetch invoice PDFs, manage discount codes, and issue refunds or credits through the Paddle Billing API.

What This Integration Enables

Agents run the Paddle billing surface end to end. They create and manage products and prices, look up customers and their subscriptions and credit balances, and pause, resume, cancel, or change subscriptions as part of a lifecycle or retention flow. They create ad-hoc transactions and fetch invoice PDFs for manual billing, create and manage discount codes for promotions, and issue refunds or credits against past transactions. The agent runs the routine catalog and billing work and stops before money moves back to a customer.

Without FlowRunner

Catalog changes keyed by hand Products and prices set up manually in Paddle for each launch
Billing questions answered slowly Customer subscriptions and credit balances looked up one screen at a time
Refunds with no approval trail Adjustments issued informally with no record of who approved them

With FlowRunner

Catalog provisioned from automation New products and prices created straight from a workflow
Billing answers assembled fast A customer's subscriptions and credit balances pulled together on demand
Refunds and credits gated Every adjustment waits for finance sign-off and lands in the audit trail

Use Case Scenarios

Bill a new customer

A lead is captured in a signup flow. The agent creates the customer with Create Customer, bills them with Create Transaction against the right catalog prices, and pulls the invoice with Get Transaction Invoice PDF. It emails the invoice through [Gmail](https://developer.paddle.com/api-reference/overview) so the customer has it right away. Billing a new customer stops being a manual sequence and becomes a step the agent runs the moment the lead arrives.

Dunning and retention

Subscriptions slip into past due. The agent calls List Subscriptions filtered to the past-due status, then runs a dunning sequence over [Gmail](https://developer.paddle.com/api-reference/overview) to prompt customers to update payment. For accounts that respond, it can resume normal billing; for accounts that do not, it surfaces them for a retention decision. The follow-up that used to be a manual weekly sweep becomes a flow that runs on its own and only escalates the accounts that need a human.

Promotion tracking

Marketing launches a promo. The agent creates the discount with Create Discount, then records it and its usage in [Airtable](/integrations/airtable) with "Create Record" so the team can see redemption at a glance. Promo setup and tracking that used to live in someone's head becomes a repeatable workflow.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

In Paddle the decision that carries cost is the adjustment: a refund returns money to the customer, and a credit reduces what you will collect. An agent can prepare the adjustment, but it should not create it on its own. Configure the agent to pause before Create Adjustment. It sends the finance team the transaction, the amount, and the reason through Slack and asks: "This refund is ready to issue against the transaction shown. Approve it?" A person approves or modifies the amount, and the agent creates exactly the adjustment that was confirmed. Because adjustments may also require approval inside Paddle before they process, the human gate lines up with the platform's own control. The approver and the reason are written to the audit trail. This is [human-in-the-loop](/concepts/human-in-the-loop): the agent pauses, gathers the context and the choices, routes to the right person, and resumes on their answer.
